This happened to us here in Chicago, too. Trader Joe's is usually only mediocre for produce but this was a horrifying new low.

It is weird that TJ's is so weak on veggies, even here in California in the middle of summer. And I know one guy who always gripes, "Well, if you want vinegar, you damn well better like balsamic!"
On the other hand, I remember the thrills and chills my mom got to discover a TJ's in Chicago! And the depression experienced by my friend who moved to Richmond, VA, where there is no TJ's at all. She comes out to visit and heads home with a suitcase full of pita chips and dips. Her post card campaign has not yet netted results.
